A house fire on Violet Lane in Bloomington has left two animals dead.
Bloomington Fire arrived to the call at 11 a.m. Sunday. The home owner was out of the house at the time of the fire departments arrival, according to the BFD.
The Normal Fire Department was called for backup.
Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be accidental due to attempting to thaw frozen water pipes. As a safety message from the Bloomington Fire department: use caution with the use of any open flame. The recommendation is to keep an open flame 3 feet from any combustible material.
Due to the extent of the fire, the two animals left inside the home were unable to get out in time. The fire left an estimated $45,000 in damages.
