Big changes continue to happen in Peoria Heights. On Tuesday, the village board agreed to unanimously move forward with two developing projects.
The first, a new apartment complex on Prospect Road that will include 10 residential units with groundfloor retail spaces.
The second, a neighborhood restaurant that can hold events for corporate and small group gatherings. Developer Kim Blickenstaff said the changes will be an economic boost to the area.
“The time is right, people are going out there to eat. Everyone wants a hotel, and wants to stay the night, but I think the economic micro-economy you have there is a very positive one. I think it’s vitally important to bring jobs and more people living in the Heights,” said Blickenstaff.
While no development timetable has been established yet, Blickenstaff hopes to begin construction in late summer of 2019.
