PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Two people were shot Memorial Day evening in Peoria, and one of the victims is dead.
Peoria Police spokesperson Semone Roth said that just before 9:00 p.m. Monday, police were called to the area of North Gale Avenue when the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system indicated that five rounds were fired.
There, officers found a woman who was shot with non-life-threatening injuries. Roth also said a man was also found with gunshot wounds. He was dead, police said.
Right now, there is no suspect information available.
The deadly shooting appears to be the city’s eighth homicide of 2023.
