United Auto Workers members voted to ratify a new central agreement with Caterpillar. The six-year deal includes wage and benefit improvements.
UAW Local 974 did not vote in favor of the agreement, however, there were enough votes nationwide for the central agreement to be ratified.
“We expect the UAW to work closely with the UAW Local 974 to achieve a ratified local contract shortly,” says Jon Ginzel, Caterpillar Director of Labor Relations.
According to the UAW Local 974’s website, the supplemental local agreement vote has been moved to Saturday, April 1.
The six-year agreements cover 5,000 members across 11 facilities in Illinois and Pennsylvania.
