With ‘Options,’ Shaun Livingston Plays It Cool This Summer

PEORIA, Ill. — Shaun Livingston is back home this week but you can’t fault him if his mind is elsewhere.

Livingston is an NBA free agent and after five highly-successful seasons with Golden State he’s looking for a new job.

He’ll turn 34 in September and has entertained thoughts of retirement. But he also thinks he can still play in the NBA.

“It’s kind of up in the air. I’m still trying to figure that out,” Livingston said of his next move. “I have some good options in front of me. It’s just a matter of following my heart and going with the best one.”

Livingston is hosting his “Pride of Peoria” youth basketball camp this week at Peoria High School. If he returns to the floor to play another season, it sounds like he’d like to finish his career with the team that drafted him 15 years ago.

“For me to be able to finish full circle, where I started at with the (Los Angeles) Clippers, that would be an ideal fit and situation,” said Livingston, who was a Clippers first round pick in 2004. “It has to work out on their end. If there’s a spot, an opportunity, I think that one makes the most sense out of all of (the teams).”
