Unit 5 could have a new bus company by as early as next year

Local News

NORMAL, Ill. — The Unit 5 school district is considering switching school bus companies.

This past year a litany of complaints registered from parents about their students being picked up and dropped off late.

In an effort to solve the problem, First Student created an app that gives parents the ability to track their child’s bus, but parents say that didn’t fix the underlying issue.

On Wednesday, school board president Barry Hutchins said the district will consider exploring other transportation options for next year.

However, according to Unit 5 Spokeswoman Dayna Brown, the conversation on the bus company change was just a conversation, there was no vote taken.
