‘Unsightly’ tall grass, Peoria city urges community to use Peoria Cares app for complaints

PEORIA, Ill.– The Community Development Department in Peoria is urging the community to use the Peoria Cares app to submit tall grass complaints. 

Here are some things to remember according to Peoria City Code:

  •     Grass and weeds cannot exceed 10 inches (ca. 25 cm) in length
  •     Privacy fencing that faces an alley way must have been maintained
  •     All gardens must also follow suit

“It’s not just about the unsightliness of it,” said Joe Dulin, Assistant Director for Peoria Community Development Department. ”Standing water, mosquitoes, rats, garbage collects in it. Lots of different things. So it’s not just about it doesn’t look nice. It can cause many issues as well.”

For tall grass complaints, use the Peoria Cares app for iPhone/Android
Snap a photo and submit it to code enforcement, or you can call 309-494-8800.

For private property complaints the number is 309-494-8654.
