UPDATE: Autopsy results for 7-year-old in Tuesday's car crash

Two children, ages five and seven, were in the back seat of a car that hit an oncoming vehicle.

This happened on South Airport Road at Dietrich Lane.

Both children were sent to the hospital.

Wednesday evening, the 7-year-old, Kieley Blakesley, was pronounced brain dead.

Autopsy results were released Thursday afternoon. Blakesley suffered blunt force trauma with internal injuries.

The condition of the 5-year-old is unknown at this time.

Although Blakesley was restrained in a seatbelt, police are investigating whether she should have been in a child safety seat.

Depending on age, height, or weight, that will dictate whether a child should be in a car seat.

"The car seat kind of creates a barrier in some circumstances," says Danny Phelan over at Advanced Medical Transport (AMT). "The car seat also has a 5-point harness integrated into it depending on what seat you're using and that provides a lot more protection to a child."

Shortly after the news spread about the car crash, a GoFundMe page was set-up for Kieley's family.

The page hopes to raise $10,000 that will go toward burial costs.
