We have more details on the 4-vehicle crash that killed a Bradley student on Interstate 55 near Pontiac Thursday afternoon.
The woman killed was 20 year old Ashley Borja of Plainfield, a junior mechanical engineering major at Bradley.
Illinois State Police say Borja was driving southbound just north of Pontiac when she crossed the median into the northbound lanes, hitting another car. She was wearing a seatbelt, but the impact was so strong she was immediately thrown out of the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger in the second car were taken to a hospital for treatment, but there aren’t any details on their injuries.
Debris from that crash hit the other two cars. Neither of those drivers or passengers were hurt.
Crews were on the scene for more than 4 hours.
