Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Illinois) is asking for the public’s help to brighten Valentine’s Day for those who have served our country.

Her sixth annual “Valentine’s for Veterans” program is kicking off. Residents in the 17th Congressional District are asked to make homemade cards for veterans expressing gratitude for their service. The cards can be mailed or dropped off at Bustos’ office at 820 SW Adams Street in Peoria.

“This Valentine’s Day, I encourage everyone across our region to consider joining me in making valentines for our veterans,” Bustos said. “We owe veterans our utmost gratitude, and it’s amazing to see the smiles you can bring to their faces by taking just a moment out of your day to thank them for their courageous service.”

The deadline for submissions is Feb. 8.
