Walgreens in Bloomington robbed, marks 8th armed robbery in last 30 days

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Walgreens in the 900 block of main street in Bloomington was robbed at knife point Thursday night.

Officials say just after 8 p.m. a suspect described as a man, wearing all black, with a black mask and hoodie, entered the store and demanded money. He then took the cash and fled on foot.

This marks the 8th armed robbery in Bloomington in less than 30 days, so officials are urging residents to remain safe.

"Employees, victims, anyone that happens to be in the incident of an armed robbery, we don't want you to attack the robber," said BPD Spokesman, John Fermon. "We don't want you to argue with the robber, we want you to be safe. That means giving their demands, letting them leave, once they do leave lock the business and tell the police."

No one was injured during the incident and this investigation is ongoing so no more information will be released at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BPD Detective Moreland at 309-434-2359 (smoreland@cityblm.org).

If you wish to remain anonymous, please call McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111. If your call leads to the arrest and indictment of suspect(s) you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
