Whiskey City Architectural Salvage has been working lately towards a special cause, and that’s to make sure that the kids at the Peoria Children’s Home have the warmest holiday season. The team at Whiskey City has been working like Santa’s Elves to create a Christmas that the kids at the Peoria Children’s Home will never forget.
“It’s great to be able to give back and provide for somebody that might not be able to experience, or have anything for Christmas,” says Co-Owner of Whiskey City Matt Faughn. “It’s just great to potentially be able to give child something, a present for Christmas.”
Whiskey City has been able to create these ornaments out of salvaged parts they’ve found.
“Whether they’re old skeleton keys, we’ve cut down spindles that we paint into snowmen and angels, and stuff like that. Kind of giving it a vintage Christmas feel,” says Faughn.
And the fact that the team at Whiskey City can partner with the Children’s Home and help local kids have a Christmas, is the reason they want people to come by their store and buy these ornaments to raise money for the kids in the Children’s Home.
“You know there’s a lot of kids that don’t get Christmas every year, so if this is a small thing we can do and give back to those kids, then it’s worth it,” says Co-Owner Bill Sullivan.
The team is working hard from now until mid-December and has the goal of making as many ornaments as possible.
“The ornaments are on sale from now until December 15th. Even if we run out we’ll continue to make more. The more we can make and sell, the more we can give to the kids,” says Faughn.
Whiskey City is located in the Warehouse District in the Old Mill Building, and will be selling these ornaments Fridays from 9-4 and Saturdays from 9-7.
