A Peoria woman has been indicted by a Peoria County grand jury for allegedly leaving the scene of a fatal hit and run.
Amanda J. Boyer, 26, faces a single charge of leaving the scene of an accident where a death occurred.
Boyer told police she was driving in the 3100 block of West Farmington Road at about 2:30 a.m. Jan. 20 when her vehicle allegedly struck 39-year-old John Lackey of West Peoria.
Lackey was found on the pavement in the roadway. He was transported in grave condition to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. At 3:09 a.m., shortly after his arrival, he was pronounced dead.
Boyer now faces a felony that carries a prison term of up to 15 years.
