Woman facing life-threatening injuries after severe head trauma, man arrested

PEORIA, Ill. — A 63-year-old woman is facing life-threatening injuries after suffering severe head trauma.

The Peoria Police Department said they found her inside a home at 6 a.m. Monday at the 700 block of West Loucks. Police were first called to the scene on a woman down with a head injury.

The PPD said suspect Jeremy Simmons “quickly became a person of interest.” He had left the scene before police arrived. Eventually, Simmons was located at approximately 5:30 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of W Nowland.

He surrendered to police without incident and retained legal counsel. He was arrested for obstructing justice and was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

The woman was transported to OSF with life-threatening injuries.

The case remains under investigation, and police said the woman is still hospitalized. Simmons could be facing more charges.
