PEORIA Ill.- A man is dead after a shooting Sunday night at the Harrison Homes Apartments in Peoria.

Monday, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said 34-year-old Bronzell P. Howard, of W. Trewyn Avenue, was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries. Despite aggressive resuscitation efforts, Howard was pronounced deceased just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Peoria Police Department responded to ShotSpotter alert at the 2700 block of West Trewyn for multiple rounds fired. Moments later, a second alert was received for additional rounds fired.

Officers arrived on scene and located Howard inside an apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.

Autopsy findings showed he suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body regions. His cause of death was related to rapid and traumatic blood loss from these wounds. There was no evidence of close-range fire.

The PPD reported that the apartment building was also stuck by gunfire. The incident is under investigation.

This marks Peoria’s twelfth homicide of the year.
