Methodist College, ICC helping Midstate College students


PEORIA, Ill. — Area colleges are doing what they can to help misplaced Midstate College students.

Methodist College is holding an open house from 4:30 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist College campus to assist those who need to complete academic programs or those who had been accepted to start in the fall semester.

“We were saddened to hear the news of the closure of Midstate College. They have been such an important part of the higher education fabric in Central Illinois,” said Methodist College Chancellor James Dire. “We are committed to providing whatever services we can to assist their students in completing their programs in healthcare, health science, or human services.”

Representatives from the Methodist College offices of Recruitment, Admissions, Registrar and Financial Aid will be on hand to provide information to Midstate students who might be interested in transferring to Methodist College.

Any Midstate College student who would like to get information prior to the open house, is encouraged to call Methodist College at (309) 672-5513 and ask to speak to a Recruitment Coordinator, or email

Additionally, Illinois Central College’s leadership team met with Midstate College’s President and Provost to offer support for the impacted students. ICC is exploring outplacement opportunities for Midstate employees, administrative support, and faculty to ensure there are no gaps in access to higher education in the district. 

ICC has created an online expedited admission process, so students will be asked for a very limited amount of information. This will allow Midstate to release students’ transcripts and records to ICC, available at

ICC will host an Open House from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 5 on the Peoria Campus at Arbor Hall. ICC leaders said they want to provide Midstate students and their families’ information and assistance tailored specifically to their situation.
