Illinois Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger says one thing we can do to keep violence at bay is changing gun laws.

In an opinion story written for Medium, he called for universal background checks, banning certain magazines and raising the age to purchase all firearms.

The piece was written after two deadly mass shootings occurred over the weekend in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas.

He also says we need to hold mass shooters accountable, just as we do terrorists.
