PEORIA, Ill. — The nineteenth Peoria homicide victim of the year has been identified.

Friday, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the man as 42-year-old Eddie J. Wren, who lived on Sheridan Road. He was pronounced deceased at 7:15 p.m. at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Harwood said autopsy findings showed Wren was shot one time in the neck, and due to the extensive wound, likely died instantly.

The Peoria Police Department is continuing to investigate the Thursday night homicide, that happened at the intersection of Nebraska Ave and Wisconsin Ave.

PPD spokeswoman Amy Dotson said law enforcement were called to the scene at 6:48 p.m. When officers arrived they say they found Wren, lying on the ground by a car, shot in the neck.

At this point, there is no word on any suspects.
