The Packers have placed second-year running back Aaron Jones on injured reserve. In a corresponding roster move, they have signed WR Allen Lazard to the active roster from the Jaguars’ practice squad. In some other moves Tuesday afternoon, the Packers announced they also signed DL Eric Cotton and CB D.J. Killings to the practice squad and placed TE Ethan Wolf on the injured list as well.
Jones sprained his MCL during the first half of the Packers Bears game in Chicago, but with the playoffs out of the picture, the Packers decided to shutdown their star running back. Jones will finish his second year on the team as Green Bay’s leading rusher with 728 yards and 8 touchdowns. His 5.5 yards per carry average is still the best in the NFL. Jones also caught 26 passes for 206 yards and another score.
Aaron Jones is now the 14th player the Packers have placed on IR.
