ISU Sophomore Ready to Represent Team USA

NORMAL, Ill. — Rachel Hickey has never been out of the country.

That’s going to change this month when the soon-to-be Illinois State sophomore represents the United States at the Pan American U20 Championships in Costa Rica.

Hickey, a former LaSalle-Peru High School star, will run in the 1,500 meters at the international meet which runs from July 18-21. She qualified for the meet when she finished second at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships in Miramar, Florida last month.

Hickey, who missed the entire spring outdoor season at ISU with a foot injury, had never before run the 1,500 meters.
