Dan Molloy recaps one of Central Illinois’ premier sporting events, the IHSA Cross Country State Finals at Peoria’s Detweiller Park.

Notable results:

1A (Boys)

Elmwood-Brimfield finished fifth as a team, while El Paso-Gridley took ninth and Dee-Mack 10th.

1A (Girls)

Olympia’s Shelby Siltman earns the best local finish, finishing fourth.

2A (Boys)

Behind Jack Franklin’s third-place individual finish, Normal U-High earns the third-place trophy. Metamora finished sixth, with Jake Gillum also placing in the top 10.

2A (Girls)

Five Dunlap runners finish in the top 25, led by Franny Verville in seventh place. The Eagles take home the runner-up trophy with their best finish in school history.

Metamora’s Kari Lalumnandier finishes 10th to lead the Redbirds to seventh place, and Normal U-High finishes eighth as a team.
