DOWNS, Ill. – The team that plays in Downs is seemingly never down.
Even though head coach Josh Roop may have to rely on a few new faces this fall, his Vikings will be looking for a 12th consecutive playoff appearance. Under his leadership, Roop’s teams have won a state championship and own a state runner-up trophy.
“We talk about the fact Tri-Valley didn’t always win. It took a lot of hard work from a lot of people, past players and alumni to get us to a program to where winning is expected,” Roop said. “We talk about when you do things the right way, winning kind of takes care of itself.”
The Vikings get an early season test in the opener. They host Decatur St. Teresa, a school that beat Tri-Valley twice last year, including in the playoffs.
