Limestone Baseball Earns Trip to State

Sports

Pitching and timely hitting have been the keys all season for Limestone, and Monday’s Rock Island Super-sectional was no exception.

Senior pitcher Bryce Meyer threw another complete game, allowing just one run, while Austin Wood and Sam Koeppel hit back to back RBI-singles with two outs in the sixth inning, leading the Rockets to a 3-1 victory over Sycamore.

The win sends Limestone to the state finals for the first time since 2005. The semifinal game with Springfield High is scheduled for noon Friday at Silver Cross Field in Joliet.
