Dunlap Shuts Out Washington In Semifinal

Eagles' 21-0 Win Sends DHS To Title Game

WASHINGTON, Ill. - Dunlap will play for a football state title.

The Eagles (13-0) beat Washington, 21-0, in the state semifinal at Babcook Field on Saturday. Dunlap will play undefeated Chicago Phillips for the Class 5A state championship on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Northern Illinois University.

Dunlap, which beat Washington (10-3) in the regular season as well, will be playing in its first state title game.

"If somebody told me my freshman year, that my senior year we would go to state, I would not believe them for a second," Dunlap senior Ryan Erickson said. "This is absolutely ridiculous, I am on cloud nine right now. This is unbelievable."

"The last time we kind of slept on them in the second half. Our main focus was to put a shutout on them, and that's what we did," Dunlap senior Charlie Mangieri said.

"Everything fell into place this season," Dunlap coach Brett Cazalet said. "You know, we are going to DeKalb."
