Kourtney Crane: Scoops and Hoops

Richwoods Grad Waits For Hoops Offer

PEORIA, Ill. - She will tell you she is having a blast this summer.

For the third year in a row, Kourtney Crane is working with friends at Theo's ice cream in Peoria.

"I like it. It's fun," said Crane. "Everybody that works here is fun. We always have fun."

But while she's having fun serving up ice cream she admits she's a little stressed out about basketball.

The first team All-State player who helped lead Richwoods High School to the class 3A state title still hasn't picked a college.

"I haven't decided what I want to do. Hopefully I can figure it out," Crane said. "I want to play, of course, but the opportunity that I really want isn't there right now."

Crane does have offers to play at some small schools and junior colleges but what she really wants is a chance to prove everyone wrong. She wants to prove she can play Division 1 hoops.

"It's late in the game. Every (college) has who they have. It's hard," Crane said. "Everything happens for a reason. I still have faith something will happen."

So she waits on hungry customers while she waits to show she's hungry enough to play college basketball. On a big stage next year.
