The Peoria High Lions hope to be roaring in Saturday’s Shriner’s All-Star football game.
“It’s competition. It will make me better, make them better for college, wherever we go,” said graduated Lions running back Jaleen James. “I feel like we can adjust better by playing each other.”
And James will have his high school coach with him on the sidelines. Tim Thornton is on the West coaching staff.
“It’s an honor anytime you get a chance to do something like this,” said Thornton. “I think the biggest honor is the opportunity to work with some of these other coaches. Other state champions, Hall of Fame coaches and other state placers. Obviously, they are doing things right.”
The annual All-Star game showcasing the top high school players in Illinois is Saturday at 1 p.m. at Illinois Wesleyan University.
