Normal West junior Francis Okoro committed to Oregon late Monday night.
The All-State power forward chose Oregon over Illinois and Purdue.
“It was a really hard decision. I prayed about it and I thought about it,” Okoro said Tuesday. “I wanted to go where my heart chooses and my heart chooses Oregon.”
The 6-foot-9 Okoro was thought to be deciding between Big Ten foes Illinois and Purdue. However, he said he loved his official visit to Oregon last month.
“With Illinois, I know some people are disappointed but I have to go where I feel it’s the best decision for me,” Okoro said.
He is still deciding if he will reclassify and enter the class of 2018. Okoro says that decision will be made in July.
