Peoria County Sherrif’s Office encourages 9 p.m. Routine

Local Sports

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office launched a social media campaign, the 9 p.m. Routine, to remind citizens how to protect themselves against crime.

Some simple ways include: locking your car, garage, window and house doors as well as checking on your pets and children.

Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said that it’s a very easy procedure that can help protect community members from theft.

“Most of our property crimes are preventable so we’re reminding the public on a daily basis, lock your car doors, remove your valuables from your car so someone doesn’t see that and break your window out,” Asbell said.

He is confident that if people continue practicing this routine then the crime rate will decrease within the community.
