Jim Thome says he didn’t make it to the Hall of Fame alone.
The former big league slugger always thanks his family, his coaches, his managers and his teammates when he talks about his election into the Hall of Fame. His acceptance speech is a team effort, too.
“He had an idea of what he wanted to say and we sat down together and formulated it,” said Jim’s wife Andrea. “Then we had another person, who is an official speech writer, come in and polish it up. It’s a collaboration.”
Andrea Thome just finished her third novel, “House of Belonging.” Her third novel completed the “Hesse Creek” series, which she wrote in three years.
“Her and I (sat) down. I am done with it,” Jim Thome said of his Hall of Fame speech. “I’ve been locked into it, getting it right. And let the emotions of that special day come out.”
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is July 29 in Cooperstown, NY.
