Smith Holds First Illini Spring Practice

The Lovie Smith era has begun at Illinois.

Smith conducted his first spring practice as new Illini head coach on Friday. It’s his first practice as a college coach in two decades.

“We have good football coaches here that are in charge of a position,” said Smith of his newly-construction coaching staff. “And I am going to let them coach that. For the most part, we set up exactly what we’re going to do before we get out here.”

The Illini will have 15 spring practices this month but will not have a spring football game.
