Peoria, Ill. – The month of September was a hot one for Central Illinois with average temperatures well above average and thanks to the area seeing very heavy rain at the end of the month, it also turned into one of the wettest Septembers too.
Peoria’s average daily temperature through the month of September was 72.2°. This made September 2019 the 4th warmest on record for the Peoria area.
When it came to rainfall, it was the 8th wettest September on record for the Peoria. Keep in mind the heaviest rain on September 27th just missed Peoria International Airport (the official observation site for the city of Peoria). Had this heavier rain moved over the airport September 2019 could have easily been in the top five.
Across the State
Illinois was warm statewide but when it comes to rainfall it was either feast or famine. The north half of the state experienced rainfall that 200-400% of normal while the southern half of the state experienced precip that was 5-50% of normal.
