Snow Chances Continue Through the Weekend

A storm system brought periods of moderate to heavy snow to northern portions of the region on Friday where several inches were reported. A sharp cut-off on the southern edge of the snow band would keep snowfall amounts minimal south of a Macomb to Pontiac line.

  • Kewanee (Henry County) - 7.0"
  • Princeton (Bureau County) - 6.0"
  • Granville (Putnam County) - 6.0"
  • Princeville (Peoria County) - 3.0"
  • Chillicothe (Peoria County) - 3.0"
  • Mossville (Peoria County) - 2.0"
  • Williamsfield (Knox County) - 2.0"
  • Peoria-WMBD (Peoria County) - Dusting

A few more rounds of snow are expected to impact Central Illinois through the weekend. Round one will move through the region Friday night with the next round moving through on Saturday night. 

Round One - 12 AM Saturday Through 10 am Saturday

Where:

  • Mainly North of a Beardstown to Bloomington Line.

Discussion:

The threat of heavy snow for areas northern parts of the area will come to an end, but an upper-level disturbance will bringing more light snow to Central Illinois. Snowfall amounts will generally be light with a few inches of snow possible across the northern half of the region.

  • Peoria Area: Trace - 2.0"
  • Bloomington/Normal: Little to no accumulation
  • Princeton: 1.0" - 3.0"
  • Toulon/Wyoming: 1.0" - 3.0"
  • Peru/La Salle: 1.0" - 3.0"
  • Galesburg: 1.0" - 3.0"
  • Pontiac: 1.0" - 3.0"
  • Canton: Trace - 2.0"
  • Havana: Little to no accumulation
  • Pekin: Little to no accumulation

Round Two - 10 PM Saturday through Noon Sunday

Where:

  • All of Central Illinois. 

Discussion:

Another area of low pressure will lift out of the southern plains and will move through the region Saturday night. Widespread snowfall accumulations of 2-4 inches are expected across the region with less southeast of I-55.
