Around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were called to a domestic dispute on Elizabeth Street. The man involved, Darrel O’Neal, had fled.
They then responded to the 3100 block of Fremont after reports of gunshots–there, police said O’Neal was inside the house.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Department reported the man was inside the home that belonged to the suspect’s grandfather.
Police waited all night to communicate a way of getting in the house to reach O’Neal.
Just before 2 a.m., police were able to remove O’neal’s grandfather from the house, while O’Neal remained inside the house on Fremont.
At 5:15 a.m., police were able to enter the house. Inside, they found O’Neal in the attic suffering from an overdose.
He was then transported to a local hospital.
This situation is still being investigated.
