PEORIA Ill.- UnityPoint Health® is excited to hold a free Mega Body and Mega Lung family event on Saturday, September 14th from 9am-4pm at the CEFCU Center Stage. The event will be educating attendees and providing free health screenings to combat the area’s health concerns.
The Tazewell, Peoria, and Woodford Community Health Report estimates 65% of regional deaths are due to chronic diseases. UnityPoint Health medical professionals will be providing one-on-one education on a variety of body and lung health topics using two large-scale inflatables. A 12ft x 26ft and 50ft long Mega Body and a 12ft x 15ft and 10ft long Mega Lung.
Free general, colon, osteoporosis, and mammogram screenings will be provided by the UnityPoint Health Wellmobile and Mammovan.
Activities available include hands-on CPR, opioid education, and hand-washing. Additional UnityPoint Health booths will be providing education on smoking cessation, lung cancer, heart disease, stress relief, suicide prevention and much more. There will be special speakers, entertainment, and food trucks.
The Peoria Fire Department will be attending to assist with CPR lessons and the Peoria Police Department will be providing opioid education and assisting with narcotics disposal.
